Delta frequent flyers to enjoy ‘virtual golf club’

5 Feb 2010
Delta Airlines is to launch a new golf programme for its 74 million Delta SkyMiles frequent flyer members worldwide. Annual membership of the International Links Golf Club will cost US$55 and will be serviced through a web site operating as a “virtual clubhouse”, where members will be able to locate nearby participating golf courses. Through the site’s online concierge system International Links members will be able to book tee times as well as travel, hotel and restaurant reservations. The site will include details of over 300 participating golf course facilities around the world. Each will be close to one of the more than 250 airports in 71 countries served by Delta. This network of affiliated courses will offer discounted fees and amenities to club members. International Links Golf Club’s site will also have sections for expert tips, called The Lesson Tee, a Golf Shop selling clubs, bags and other golf accessories, and a Travel Desk. The website will also have a Tournament Director’s section, where members will be alerted to local competitions organised especially for Delta members, other golf events and programmes combining golf with activities such as wine tastings and dinners. Business Golf International, which has offices in Georgia, USA, Toronto, Canada and the birthplace of golf, St. Andrews, Scotland, operates the programme. The website, www.intlinks.com, will go live on March 1. Kenny Coyle
