German hotel brand Pentahotels is heading to Thailand with the company announcing today it expects its first property in the country to open some time around 2020. The new Pentahotel Bangkok, Ploenchit will be located in the capital’s Lumpini district in the central business district.

Describing itself as a “design-led and neighbourhood lifestyle brand”, Pentahotels focuses on design and socialising and its upcoming Bangkok property will include many of its signature touches. Among these are the Pentalounge, which the group describes as a reception area aimed at combining function and entertainment with an emphasis on the social aspect of the bar area. Understandably, with this sort of focus the brand is particularly aiming to appeal to next-generation travellers.

“The Pentahotels brand concept offers an entirely new hotel experience to guests, which has seen tremendous success in Europe and Asia,” said Sonia Cheng, CEO of parent management company Rosewood Hotel Group. “In Bangkok, we have chosen the Lumpini location for its international business appeal and vibrant local and expatriate scenes, and we are confident that this new location will pave the way for our successful operations in Thailand.”

Pentahotel Bangkok, Ploenchit will be a medium-sized property with 157 guestrooms and facilities including a swimming pool and gym.

Elsewhere in Asia-Pacific, meanwhile, Pentahotels aims to open its second property in Hong Kong this summer.
