Swire Hotels has confirmed the expansion of its “House Collective” to Shanghai, with its upcoming property at the HKRI Taikoo Hui mixed-use development taking the mantle “The Middle House”.

The property, which is set to open at the end of this year, is the fourth in the series and will join The Opposite House in Beijing, The Upper House in Hong Kong and The Temple House in Chengdu.

Set to offer 111 rooms, along with 102 serviced apartments under The Middle House Residences, the property gets its name from its Dazhongli location (“zhong” referring to “central” in Mandarin). Outdoor spaces are also set to be a notable focus of the hotel, while certain familiar House collection facilities, such as its own iteration of Café Gray Deluxe, will also be present.

The opening of a House property has been on the books for some time, with Swire first indicating its intention to open a hotel under the brand back in 2015.

Speaking about the announcement, Swire Hotels managing director Brian Williams said, “Following the success of The House Collective in Hong Kong, Beijing and most recently in Chengdu, we are very excited to introduce The Middle House to Shanghai. Our House hotels are each uniquely imagines, and are specially designed for guests who seek a different, intimate and personalised experience.”

In addition to its House Collective brand, which the group unveiled in 2015, Swire Hotels also operates three “East” properties – East, Hong Kong, East, Beijing and its most recent addition, East, Miami that opened last year.
