Hilton’s Greater China portfolio hit the 100-hotel mark today following the opening of the Hilton Quanzhou Riverside hotel, the first of Hilton Hotels and Resorts’ flagship branded properties in China’s Fujian province, and the 40th Hilton-branded hotel to open in Greater China.

Occupying 25 storeys and offering 296 rooms, the riverfront hotel is situated in Jinjiang’s central business district within Fujian’s largest metropolitan area, Quanzhou. The southeast China city is a key area for the corporate and leisure travel segments as well as the MICE sector.

“Hilton has proudly welcomed the world’s travellers for nearly 100 years, continuously innovating and redefining what hospitality means,” said Sean Wooden, Hilton’s vice president, brand management for Asia-Pacific. “With the opening of our first Hilton Hotels and Resorts property in Fujian, we are delivering unparalleled hospitality to both leisure and business travellers.”

The new Hilton is about eight kilometres from Quanzhou Jinjiang International Airport and 12 kilometres from Quanzhou Railway Station. Its 296 rooms start at 40 sqm – the largest in the district – with both river and city skyline views. The hotel’s executive lounge also offers a 180-degree panorama of the city.

Leisure facilities include an indoor heated swimming pool with an underwater sound system, steam rooms and a 24-hour fitness centre. The hotel’s meetings and events spaces comprise a total of 2,940 sqm including a 1,368 sqm pillarless ballroom. Three dining options offering Western and Asian cuisine, traditional Chinese dishes and afternoon tea and snacks, also feature at the new Hilton.

“Hilton is strengthening its footprint across China in locations that attract business and leisure travellers,” said Bruce McKenzie, senior vice president of operations for Greater China and Mongolia. “We celebrate a great milestone today with the opening of our 100th hotel in China, and we are continuing to grow. With more than 230 hotels in the pipeline, we will provide guests with more choice and more opportunities to experience our best-in-class service, wherever they travel.”

Earlier this month, Hilton opened its debut Garden Inn brand in Shanghai in the city’s Hongqiao central business district.

Hilton currently operates about 4,900 hotels worldwide.
