Hyatt Hotels Corporation is set to add 12 new Hyatt Centric-brand properties by the end of 2019 as part of an aggressive expansion plan that will see the Centric brand’s portfolio nearly double from 14 to 26.

The dozen new hotels will open across the globe. Last month, Hyatt announced Australia’s first Centric property, due to open in 2019 in Hobart, Tasmania, while in September three US properties were rebranded under the Centric name.

“Since its launch in 2015, the Hyatt Centric brand has proven to be one of our fastest-growing lifestyle brands,” said Steve Haggerty, global head of capital strategy and franchising for Hyatt. “Our aggressive expansion plans for the brand were born out of a need to increase our brand presence where our guests travel most, and the hotels in the Hyatt Centric brand pipeline will allow us to meet that need and further connect with millennial-minded guests in the upper-upscale lifestyle segment.”

A number of the new properties will be located in Asia-Pacific, most notably in Japan, Australia and China. The Hyatt Centric Ginza in Tokyo is due to open in 2018 followed by the Hyatt Centric Hobart in 2019. Opening dates for the new China properties – Hyatt Centric Boao Gold Coast in Qionghai, and Hyatt Centric Sanya Yazhou Bay in Sanya, both on Hainan Island – have yet to be confirmed.

Other destinations getting a new Hyatt Centric by the end of 2019 include France, Turkey, Qatar, the US and Barbados.
