YTL Hotels will be adding two properties in Malaysia to the Autograph Collection in the first two months of 2017.
The Majestic Hotel Kuala Lumpur became the first Autograph Collection hotel in Southeast Asia when it was added to the collection on January 1. Meanwhile, the group’s Hotel Stripes Kuala Lumpur is set to debut on February 12 as the group’s second Autograph Collection property in the country.
The Autograph Collection is a group of more than 110 independent hotels across the globe by Marriott International. Speaking about the properties, YTL’s executive director Dato’ Mark Yeoh said: “Our long-term partnership with Marriott International continues to grow steadily with our two Autograph Collection Hotels in Kuala Lumpur and across the continents with eight properties in Asia-Pacific and Europe.”
YTL’s debut Autograph Collection property, the 300-room/suite Majestic Hotel Kuala Lumpur includes the Hotel Majestic building, which was built in the 1930s and has been declared a national heritage site under the country’s Antiquities Act. The hotel is located opposite the old Moorish-style railway station and is set within 1.3 hectares on Jalan Sultan Hishamuddin. The property’s suites with butler service, Colonial Café, bar and tea lounge are each located in the restored, original five-storey Majestic Hotel.
Hotel Stripes, meanwhile, is situated near the city’s business hub on Jalan Kamunting and features 184 bespoke guestrooms and suites. Formerly known as the Asian Heritage Row, The Row on Jalan Kamunting features 22 shophouses from the 1940s that now house restaurants, cafés, art galleries and creative businesses. As part of the hotel’s February opening, a special rate starting from RM285+ (US$64+) per room night is being offered for stays at Hotel Stripes until June 30.
