Cambodia will welcome its first Marriott International brand hotel in April, 2017 with the opening of the Courtyard by Marriott Siem Reap Resort. The 233-room property will be located approximately 15 minutes from Angkor Archaeological Park, a Unesco World Heritage site featuring remains from the Khmer Empire between the 9th and 15th centuries, including the famed Angkor Wat temple.

“The Angkor Archaeological Park is one of the world’s top Unesco World Heritage Sites, which continues to attract increasing numbers of international visitors,” said Lundy Nath, president and CEO of Grand Lion Group, which is developing the property. “I am confident that the opening of Courtyard by Marriott Siem Reap Resort, an established worldwide hospitality brand, will play an important role in attracting visitors from far and wide.

Views of the temple can be gleamed from the hotel’s The View rooftop bar, while the hotel’s other F&B options include a casual all-day dining restaurant and lobby lounge. Recreational facilities will comprise an outdoor swimming pool and fitness centre in addition to a full-service spa with a relaxation lounge and foot reflexology area.

Each of the guestrooms will have four-fixture bathrooms, HD flat-screen TVs, and offer high-speed internet. Corporate groups can make use of the approximately 600 sqm of function space, including a grand ballroom. Meanwhile, a kids’ club – the first of its kind in the city – called Treehouse offers activities for families.

In addition to the new Siem Reap property, Grand Lion also plans to open a second Marriott-brand property in Cambodia in the fourth quarter of 2020. The 250-room resort will be located in the southwestern beach town Sihanoukville approximately four hours from Phnom Penh next to a 688-unit residence and retail mall.
