Mövenpick Hotels and Resorts will begin managing three new properties in Thailand between Q4 2016 and Q4 2017, following a management agreement with developer Nusasiri Plc earlier this week.

The agreement will see the Swiss hotel management company take over operating of the new Mövenpick Residences Ekkamai, Bangkok and Mövenpick Resort Khao Yai this year, and Mövenpick Resort Mai Khao Phuket next year.

These new properties will bring the company’s total number of Thailand hotels to seven. Speaking about the agreement, Andrew Langdon, Mövenpick Hotels and Resorts senior vice president Asia, said: “We are thrilled today to sign an agreement with such a distinguished developer and to increase our properties under Mövenpick management in Thailand.

“This is our second property in Bangkok and the debut of our exclusive serviced apartment brand, Mövenpick Residences. It’s our third resort in Phuket, while in Khao Yai we are delighted to be opening up the first truly internationally managed resort in this well-known domestic destination.”

The new Bangkok property will comprise 160 one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments, along with a rooftop lounge and bar. The Phuket hotel will offer 220 rooms and will include its own beach club, while the Khao Yai hotel will include 114 suites and villas.

Thailand represents the company’s single largest market in Asia, with four of its current eight existing Asia properties being located in the country.
