Waldorf Astoria, Hilton Worldwide’s luxury brand, is planning to open a new property in San Francisco.

The Waldorf Astoria San Francisco is scheduled to open in either 2020 or 2021, and will be part of a 185,806 sqm (two million-square-foot) mixed-used complex that will feature entertainment, luxury retail and office space.

The hotel will occupy the first 21 floors of the tower, which is designed by noted architectural firm Foster + Partners. Located at Mission Street between Ecker and 1st Streets, Waldorf Astoria San Francisco will be situated within the city’s new Transbay Neighbourhood – a redevelopment project that surrounds the Transbay Transit Centre.

“With the revitalisation taking place around the Transbay Transit Centre, this neighbourhood is poised to become a major hub for locals and global luxury travellers, which underscores Waldorf Astoria’s commitment of being in the centre of coveted gateway destinations,” said John Vanderslice, global head, Waldorf Astoria Hotels & Resorts.

The interior of the hotel will be designed by world-renowned hospitality design firm Hirsch Bedner Associates. When completed, the property will offer a number of dining options as well as a spa facility.

This will be complemented by the brand’s signature “True Waldorf Service”, which features personal butlers who ensure all guests receive personalised service during their stay.

Waldorf Astoria San Francisco will also participate in the Hilton H Honors programme, through which guests can earn and redeem points for stays at the hotel.
