Intercontinental Hotels Group has announced its second European Kimpton property, located in the French capital’s 2nd arrondissement close to the Paris Opera.

The hotel is scheduled to open 2020, and will be situated within a converted office building on Boulevard des Capucines and Rue Daunou.

The building formerly housed the luxury Samaritaine de Luxe department store between 1917 and 1981.

No renderings are currently available of the forthcoming hotel, but features will include 149 rooms (27 of which will be suites), as well as a spa, fitness facilities and meeting space.

IHG acquired the Kimpton brand in early 2015, and the Paris announcement follows the development of the 270-room Kimpton Amsterdam, which is scheduled to open in 2017.

There are currently 62 Kimpton branded properties in the US, with a further 18 in the pipeline.

Business Traveller interviewed Kimpton’s director of international sales, Cindy Brewster in 2015, on the brand’s plans for international expansion.
