Travelodge completes £100 million upgrade

22 Dec 2015 by BusinessTraveller

Travelodge has completed a £100 million modernisation programme of its UK properties.

Upgraded hotels now feature king-size Travelodge Dreamer beds, family rooms including separate individual pull-out beds for children, and an improved contemporary room design.

The completion of the three-year project follows the group's announcement earlier this year of a further £100 million investment to open 15 new properties in the UK (see news February 13).

The new Travelodge room was developed with feedback from the company’s leisure and business customers, with the work being carried out a team of 200 employees, clocking in over one million man hours.

Peter Gowers, Travelodge chief executive said:

“The completion of our £100m room modernisation programme marks a major milestone on our journey to build a new Travelodge and become Britain’s favourite hotel for value.

“Our continuing investment in upgraded quality has been a key driver of our recent rapid growth from both business customers and families.”

Over 500 properties have been upgraded, with 148 hotels now featuring on-site bar-cafes serving Kellogg’s cereals, Linda McCartney vegetarian meals and Lavazza coffee.

Last month the hotel chain launched its all-you-can-eat breakfast service (see news November 18).
