26 Jan 2012 by BusinessTraveller
“Budget luxury” hotel brand Citizen M is set to open its first property in the capital before the London 2012 Games, with a second London hotel expected in 2013, along with properties in New York and Paris. Citizen M announced expansion plans back in September 2010 when it opened its first UK property in Glasgow (see online news September 6, 2010), and recent Twitter updates have confirmed that the group is “expecting” to open its London Bankside property before this year’s Olympics. The Citizen M Twitter page also confirms that three more hotels are set to open in 2013, located in New York Paris and London. The Bankside property is currently being built on Lavington Street , a couple of roads back from the Tate Modern, and a dedicated Facebook page has been set up to follow the development here. The Citizen M concept features compact rooms with wall-to-wall windows, superking-size beds, rain showers, designer furniture, LCD TV screens with free movies, global plug sockets and complimentary wifi internet access. The group currently operates two hotels in Amsterdam and one in Glasgow – for a review of the Citizen M Amsterdam City property click here. For more information visit citizenm.com.
