Von Essen’s Hotel Verta to open in September

17 Jun 2010 by BusinessTraveller
Luxury hotel group Von Essen will finally unveil its first London property this autumn, with the new-build Hotel Verta due to open on September 12. The 70-room  property (including 14 suites) is located within the London Heliport complex, and is being billed as “the first integrated hotel heliport solution in Europe”. It had been due to open last autumn (see online news February 2, 2009), but will now open its doors to the public on Sunday September 12. Hotel Verta will be the first new-build property for a group famous for offering luxury country house hotels in the UK and France. It will also be the first London hotel by the brand, and will join Von Essen’s Forbury Hotel in Reading and Seaham Hall Hotel in County Durham within the group’s Metropolitan Set. The hotel is part of the Bridges Wharf Battersea development next to the River Thames, and features Patrisey Restaurant with views of the river from its outdoor terrace, as well as Vertilon bar and lounge, and a dedicated conference and events level with capacity for up to 200 delegates and panoramic views of the Thames. Spa Verta will offer treatments using Anne Semoinin products, and will feature “an innovative hydro-vitality pool consisting of air loungers, air seat, standing air station and two neck massage stations”, as well as a sanarium, heated lounges, steam room, sauna, gym, four therapy rooms, and a grooming room. In keeping with the hotel’s connection with the London Heliport, the design is “inspired by the Halcyon days of aviation”, with a double-height lobby and sweeping staircase. The closest station to the property is Clapham Junction (around 15 minutes walk), and the hotel will offer a shuttle service to and from the station, as well as shuttle transfers to London Victoria “at regular intervals” throughout the day. The hotel is one of several new and refurbished properties in the Battersea / Chelsea area of London, with Rafayel on the Left Bank opening in December last year adjacent to Hotel Verta (for a review click here), and Pestana Hotels opening its first property to the east of Battersea Park on Queenstown Road (see online news February 24). The Wyndham Grand London Chelsea Harbour is also located on the other side of the Thames from Hotel Verta, and is nearing the completion of its refurbishment programme (for a review click here).
